Update: I've gone down to one star. I'd give zero is possible. After trying multiple times to call and talk about this issue, no one will answer the phone. I've called multiple times a day for several days and it always goes to an answering machine. I've left messages and a return number, but no one calls back. This was under my fiancés name, and the last name is under COPUS.
If there is an issue with the building permit inspection, we're screwed because once they have your money, you will never be able to contact them. My next step is the better business bureau with a copy of picture, this review, and their reply. Spartan will NOT take responsibly for anything wrong with the building or the contractors they hire to build it.
We just had a pole barn installed last week. First of all, it has a lot of ripples in it from where they over tightened a lot of the screws. There are a few that aren't even tightened all the way, and we haven't even checked the whole building.
After driving around the county, I noticed that every other pole barn in the country is sided vertically, while ours is sided horizontally. Metal siding is put on vertical for a reason, which I've attached a picture that explains why. I've also attached a picture of our barn showing all the ripples. I'm extremely unhappy considering the money we spent on it.
The crew also used our extension cords, wheelbarrow, cinder blocks, rakes, and brooms instead of bringing their own. They're lucky we had these to use. Their generator also stopped working and they told us we needed to either find someone to come and weld the anchors, or rent them another generator. We did neither because we felt they should've been better prepared. Instead of welding the anchors, they put lag bolts on them. The company will also tell you that you don't need a building permit if it's in the country. That is completely false if it's over a certain size!! You still need a building permit even if it's built in the country, and it will also need to be inspected!! Now we are taking a chance, and worried if it'll pass inspection with all the issues we've found. I will say the guys on the crew were polite.
